Le P’tit Paysan is a small producer focused on showcasing Monterey wines. Owner and winemaker Ian Brand moved to California to surf but found his true calling working at Bonny Doon Vineyards, where he rose to Assistant Winemaker. Named one of Wine & Spirits Magazine's “40 Under 40 Tastemakers” in 2013, he embraces innovation and tradition simultaneously, taking a creative approach to plantings yet farming organically. He believes that the vineyard sites are the ultimate determinants of the quality and character of the finished wines.

The 2022 Le P'tit Payson Sauvignon Blanc Zabala Vineyards is sourced from the Zabala Vineyard in Arroyo Seco. The vineyard's soils are very sandy and full of river stones known locally as "Greenfield Potatoes". The temperature and abundant afternoon sunshine are moderated by the Salinas Valley winds and morning fog; these conditions bring forth wines that deftly balance ripe fruit, acidity, and earthy characters.

The wine was fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels for seven months. Aromas of red grapefruit, gooseberry, and lime zest follow on the palate. Accents of wet stone are a nod to the terroir of the Sabala Vineyard. Bright acidity brings balance and elegance, the finish is long and zesty.
